Jalen Cameron
6’4/165/Wing
West Florence HS (Florence, SC)
UBA South Carolina
Introduction
As a freshman, for his West Florence High School team Cameron made a name for himself. Cameron found himself in the starting line up and proceeded to average 12.5 points 4.5 boards 2 assists 2 steals and a blocked shot.
Cameron played his summer travel ball with the UBA AAU program where he continued with high level showings at Peach State, Phenom Hoops Grind Session, and Havoc on the Hardwood. For the final two sessions of July, Cameron played 17U.
Positives
Cameron plays with a smooth flow to his game. He is very confident from the wing, both with his pull up jump shot and his handle. Cameron possesses great length, which he uses on defense to disrupt passing lanes. When he is fully motivated, Cameron affects he game in multiple ways, on both ends.
Cameron has the confidence to play as the man on his team. He did so for his high school and he did so toward the end of his AAU travel season. Defensively he has a chance to be elite.
Room For Growth
Cameron is very slender and needs to put on some weight. Also, he has a great natural skill set but will need to continue to round out his game and polish up the edges.
Moving Forward
Cameron will head into his Sophomore season as a known commodity. He will undoubtedly be “the man” on his varsity team. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to being game planned for. As he continues to grow physically and in his skill set, it should be a good ride. At this point he is producing across the statistical board, and should continue to do so moving forward.
